a plea for help

Hey friends (or anyone out there with great advice), Bret and I are preparing to send a huge shipment of all of our stuff down to Brazil in about a week. We've discovered that it's much less expensive to buy EVERYTHING here and ship it down than to buy it there. Of course you can get things in Brazil but apparently everything is three times the cost for something of lesser quality so that means we need to stock up now!

I could use help with any recommendations on what you think I'd need or where some great deals are but I'd particularly appreciate some advice with baby stuff. So tell me, what baby items do you love and/ or can't live without? And, if you have preferences, where should I get them? Any and all advice is welcome, both baby and non-baby related. Thanks!

P.S. I found this picture under "packing" in google images and I thought it was good.

baby items:
1. Stain remover for poop (you will save so many outfits). I love "totally awesome" you can find it at the dollar store. I know right?! It works amazing too.
2. In the beggining you will probably want a bouncy seat or swing. Makes soothing your baby easier.
3. Mams binkys. They don't fall out when your baby is a new born like most binkys.
4. Boppy pillow.
5. Good swaddle blankets. Dwell studio for target has my favorites for about 3/$11
These are just a few things I couldn't live with out. Everyone is different though.
Hope this helps:)

The phil and teds stroller. although pricy it's the only one you'll ever need, trust me! It lays flat for an infant and you can put your carseat on it. It comes as a single, but has the best on the market double seat attachment (to purchase) if you are going to have another little one in the next few years (I bought it with the advent of #2). Finally, though it doesn't have the shock absorbs like a normal jogger I ran with mine all the time and it was great. Only downside is that it's not super light weight.
Also the ergo baby carrier is fantastic. Once again, has long term pluses because you can put your 4 year old in it on your back for a little hiking as well as a little baby frontwards.
I am so excited for you guys! An infant is soooo much fun (as I type with mine sleeping on me right now) :)))

Wow, I don't know who that Catherine is, but she's got her stuff down!

There is a lot of stuff, I know, but maybe it would be helpful to go shopping with someone that knows, (even just online shopping).

The thing I love the most are footie-pjs. I'd get ~4 for each size until 1 year, at least. Isla lives in them. Baby tylenol. Pedialite for constipation. A good pump and all the equipment if you need it (you'll know right after you give birth if you'll need it or not). Call me if you have any questions!

Agreed on the Boppy & the Bumbo is a must have too! If you want I would be happy to go to babies r us with you and tell you what is worth getting :) Let me know

I agree. I would invest in a bumbo seat- When your baby is almost old enough to sit up but can't quite do it on their own they can get so frustrated. The bumbo seat was a miracle worker. Natalie would sit in it and just laugh because she was so pleased with herself sitting up.

I'd also get some baby gas relief drops- Mylicon, a swaddle me (by kiddopotomous- at babies r us & target). And I loved the book Baby Wise.

Good luck with everything!!
