back in the saddle

Hey there. So I've been thinking a lot lately about getting back into portrait photography. I was really interested in pursuing that field in college (when I was working at a studio and taking classes in it) but I put it aside as a hobby once I got married and got a job in marketing. So anyway, I'm not a complete novice, but I'd like to brush up on my skills and see if I want to get back into it seriously. So if any of you are interested in getting some photos done of your kid(s), family, home, pet or whatever, please let me know! My email is laura.u.miller@gmail.com. I'd love the practice and I'd do it for a fair price since I'm just getting started :) If you act fast we may be able to get some in time for your Christmas card! Super.

Here's a few pictures I've taken lately to wet your whistle....

(This family wanted urban architecture as a backdrop and very natural, in-the-moment kind of shots to capture their family at this time.)

This is my kid sitting in a car without pants on. You see, I'm up for anything.

These next two are not so recent but you get the idea.

And a sweetie baby to finish things up.

now it's four

Four years later and still kickin'!

Happy anniversary B. You da best.

southern utah in the fall

Last weekend we went on a trip with some of my family down through the state of Utah. We went off the beaten path that is I-15 and instead we got to see a lot of the more beautiful parts of the state (especially at this time of year) and make some fun stops along the way.

Red Barn in Santaquin
Manti Temple.

Bret calls this the "Simba" pose.

Crazy enough, I'd never been to Manti before to see this beautiful building. I'd love to go back someday and see the pageant and even more importantly, go inside. I hear the interior is even more magnificent.

Our next stop was Bryce Canyon. Never been there either if you can believe it, at least not in memory, I may have gone as a wee babe. It was spectacular and it couldn't have been a prettier fall day.

A collage.

We spent the night and next day at Zion National Park, a family favorite, where we met up with my sister Amy and her family.

Ready to hike the emerald pools!

I wore my hair in a (very messy) braided wreath thing for the hike. I think it was the first time my nephews have ever complimented my hair, but only because I looked like Princess Lea on the planet of Endor.

Taking a break at the upper pool. Thumbs up for the bottle!

 So gorgeous.

Our last stop was St. George for a couple days to visit Bret's parents who are staying at their condo for a couple weeks. We went on a quick hike with Bret's dad to see the petroglyphs on Ansazi Ridge.

And that's it folks.

one year photos

While I was in college at the U of U, I worked as an assistant at Busath Photography Studio in downtown Salt Lake. It was a great job where I learned a lot about portrait photography and I worked with many talented people. One of them was Miyo Strong - who was also one of the fabulous women to shoot our wedding photos (the other was Laura Bruschke). A few weeks ago she took these 1-year photographs of Ethan. I think they turned out adorable, but I may be a little biased.
